Too many products is a real problem

Many people apply 8, 10, sometimes 12 different products morning and night. This is not necessarily harmful, but it is rarely necessary. Some actives neutralise each other. Others irritate the skin when combined. And in the end, you do not know what product does what — or which one to change when something is not working.

The minimal protocol that actually works

Gentle cleanser, moisturiser, SPF in the morning. Cleanser, retinol or vitamin C serum in the evening, moisturiser. That is all. This 3 to 4-step protocol covers 95% of the needs of a normal to combination skin. Everything else is an optional supplement — not useless, but not fundamental.

Reusable cotton rounds: the first real gain

Removing disposable cotton is one of the most immediate and least painful changes in a simplified routine. Reusable washable pads like those from Kuishi replace hundreds of cotton rounds a year, cost nothing once bought, and often have a gentler texture than industrial cotton. It is a simple gesture and a real saving.

What I noticed in one month

Fewer irritations. Fewer breakouts at the edges of application zones. Skin less reactive to seasonal changes. And above all, a much sharper knowledge of what my skin likes and what it tolerates poorly — impossible to determine when layering ten products.

The products I dropped without regret

Setting spray, toning mist, bi-weekly mask, preventive lip liner, special-formula night cream. Some had a pleasant texture. None were irreplaceable. The skin adapted in two weeks.

The link between minimalism and product quality

Reducing the number of products frees up budget to choose better ones. A slightly higher-quality cleanser, a better-formulated moisturiser, an SPF you actually enjoy wearing — these choices have more impact than a collection of half-empty small bottles on a shelf.

How to stay consistent

A simplified beauty routine often struggles against marketing temptation. Having a clear, organised bathroom with only the essentials neatly stored in quality containers helps maintain discipline. What you see conditions what you use.
