Sensitive or oily scalp: which shampoo should you choose?

Soothing, hydrating or sebum-regulating: the right scalp routine depends on what happens at the roots.

Think scalp first

When the roots feel uncomfortable or become oily quickly, the answer is not always to use a stronger cleanser. A balanced scalp routine should clean the roots while respecting sensitivity and avoiding heavy products too close to the scalp.

For sensitivity

A soothing cleanser is the first option when the scalp feels tight, reactive or uncomfortable. The goal is to wash without multiplying friction or aggressive formulas.

For oily roots

A sebum-regulating shampoo can be useful when the roots get greasy fast, but it should still be used with moderation. Over-cleansing can sometimes make the routine feel harsher.

For dry lengths

Even when the scalp is the main concern, the lengths may need a separate conditioner or mask. Treat the roots and the ends differently for a cleaner result.
